Riecks was quoted in a post titled "Did You Know That Social Media Sites Strip Images of IPTC Metadata?" written by Kristin Twiford on the Photoshelter Libris blog (February 4, 2016) about the update to the 2016 Embedded Metadata survey conducted by the IPTC. A quote from Riecks was included in a Reuters and Yahoo Finance report on the 2016 Embedded Metadata Survey update, conducted by the IPTC in January of 2016. in Henry Stewart, JDMM Greg Scoblete interviewed David Riecks for the article "Photo Archiving: In the Digital Age, Longevity Is No Sure Thing" in the April 20, 2015 edition of PDN (Photo District News) magazine. Riecks was quoted in a March, 2013 article in The British Journal of Photography titled "Study exposes social media sites that delete photographs’ metadata" about the importance of retaining embedded metadata. A quote from Riecks was included in the "Study Looks Into Whether Photo Websites Play Nicely with Copyright Metadata" article on the PetaPixel site (March 14,2013), explaining the impact that embedded loss could have on Orphan Works. Henrik de Gyor's Another DAM Podcast for February 10, 2011 features an interview with David Riecks. Riecks was acknowledged for contributions to the "Cyborg Metadata: Humans and machines working together to manage information - Part 2: Images" article by Matt Moore of Innotecture, and chair of the New South Wales Knowledge Management forum. Aric Allen interviewed David Riecks for the Createasphere Podcast in October of 2010, about being a judge for Creatasphere's DAMMY awards, and other issues DAM and Image Metadata related. David Riecks was one of the speakers for the next Earley & Associates "Taxonomy Community of Practice" webinars, focusing on "Metadata for Digital Images" that was held December 2, 2009.
